In 2008, the Chinese-American film "The Forbidden Kingdom" directed by Rob Minkoff was released, on the set of which Chan met and became friends with the famous Chinese actor and martial artist Jet Li. Critics gave a mixed response, noting that "the fight scenes are gorgeous, but there's too much 'filler' in between."
He then continued to experiment with different genres and appeared in both Chinese and American films. In 2010, Chan starred opposite Jaden Smith (son of Will Smith) in the remake of the 1984 classic "The Karate Kid" – his first dramatic role in an American film. In 2011, the milestone 100th film starring Jackie Chan, "1911", was released, in which he not only played the lead role, but also served as co-director and executive producer.
In the same year, the actor received the People's Choice Award as Favorite Action Movie Star. Jackie Chan's filmography includes over 100 films. At the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, Jackie Chan announced his retirement from action films, saying his age was "no longer suitable" for the genre. However, he later clarified that he does not intend to completely quit his beloved craft, but will simply perform fewer stunts and take better care of his body.

Jackie Chan has no plans to end his career. Following this announcement, he starred in films like Police Story 4 (2013), Dragon Blade (2015) and Skiptrace (2016). In December 2016, the comedy action film Railroad Tigers was released in China, starring Jackie alongside his son Jaycee.
On November 12, 2016, Jackie Chan was awarded an honorary Oscar for his "outstanding achievements" in cinema. In October 2017, the Sino-British film The Foreigner, directed by Martin Campbell, was released, starring Jackie alongside Pierce Brosnan. In this film, Jackie took on a serious dramatic role while showing off his martial arts skills.
Despite his age, Jackie Chan remains full of vigor and energy. In the same month, the Russian-Chinese film Viy 2: Journey to China, the sequel to Viy, premiered. Jackie had a supporting role in this film, which featured an extraordinary international cast including Jason Flemyng, Rutger Hauer and Arnold Schwarzenegger from the West, as well as Pavel Volya, Anna Churina and Andrey Merzlikin from Russia.
