How to properly moderate content?

I recently created my own forum and realized that I had no idea about content moderation. There aren't many articles on the Internet about it, so I'm at a loss. What's your advice?

I don't know, honestly, it seems to me that small forums are dying and only Reddit is left. It's pretty convenient, because you can basically talk about everything there.
