Looking for a silent GPS tracking app

My girlfriend's father has a neurological condition which, as it progresses, finds him wandering off frequently around town.
In order to keep him safe and for his wife to know where he's gone, we need to find a GPS tracking app for his phone (Galaxy, unsure of exact model but relatively recent) that does not pop notifications, so she can query his location at any time.
He's still savvy enough to understand what's happening on his phone so I need to make sure he's not shown notifications when his location is requested, else he'll probably remove the app and cause her stress. He's still physically fit and able; but struggles greatly with speech and confuses easily.
The Samsung find my phone service is okay but does pop notifiations. Google's Trusted Contacts is also okay but also pops up and asks if you want to share location.
Does anyone have a suggestion for an app which will fulfill our requirements?
