Baseball's offseason rumor mill is often more about churning out quantity than quality, so well try our best to help you figure out which rumors dabble in reality.
Dave Dombrowski is not shy about trading away big-time talent, as Nico Siragusa Jersey the Tigers general manager showed last year when he shipped out Prince Fielder and Doug Fister in separate deals. Even knowing that anything is po sible with Detroit, something does not add up about .

Its not that Price should not be available for trade. The left-hander is 29 years old, one season away from free agency, and just led the American League in strikeouts. The Tigers traded Austin Jackson, Drew Smyly and Willy Adames to get Price in a three-team deal in July. If Dombrowski can get as good a return as what he gave up, after getting two solid months and one hard-luck lo s in the playoffs out of Price, he will. Thats how he works.
The thing that does not make sense is the timing of saying the Tigers may be shopping Price. With all of the top free agent pitchers still on the market, there are potential trade partners who would Justice Hill Jersey not yet be willing to engage, knowing that they can get top pitchers for longer than one year without giving up anything more than a draft pick and money. If Price is willing to negotiate an Iman Marshall Jersey extension with a team that trades for him, that changes things, but he still would cost a hefty price to pry out of Detroit.
Rob Rogacki writes that a Price trade, in theory, would clear up room for the Tigers to sign Max Scherzer to a long-term contract. That would be quite a risk for Dombrowski to take, given that the season still is nearly five months away. If Detroit aims to sign Scherzer or anyone else for big money, it would make far more sense to be sure to have them under contract first, then make the payroll-clearing trade.
Now, what about Scherzer returning to Detroit? Tony Paul of The Detroit News had an interesting take on that, with a series of tweets in which he played up the advantages of the Motor Citys low cost of living.
don't seem realistic at all for Max Tyus Bowser Jersey Scherzer, even if they want him. He's about money. Well, $144M in Detroit is like $300M in NYC.

Max Scherzer wouldn't even try Ronan a couple years Lamar Jackson Jersey back until he had a coupon. So, yeah, cost of living is a factor. Wants best value.

Most obvious suitors for Max would be , , , , , . Only Texas has better COL than Detroit.

Ronan, which Scherzer would not try without a coupon, presumably is , where the most expensive item on the menu is a 14 oz. gra s-fed New York Strip Teriyaki with wasabi potatoes and grilled asparagus for $28. Lets say this coupon story happened in 2010. Scherzers first season with the Tigers. That year, per diem for major leaguers was $89.50.
Either Scherzer is the most frugal profe sional athlete who ever lived, or that story is mi sing something. Whatever it is, Scott Boras is Scherzers agent, and probably could help figure out how to stretch $300 Earl Thomas III Jersey million in New York beyond $144 million in Detroit, even after tax differences and cost of living adjustments.
Its worth remembering that Dombrowski is out there, lurking, ready to make a deal at any time if it makes sense for his team. There just is not a lot of reason to believe that now is that time.
