All drug rehab centers offer comparable services that have a direct bearing on your recovery from drug addiction and/or alcoholism. These services include drug-testing, therapy, medication management, and group workshops on relapse prevention. Beyond that, there is much variation among different facilities and the other services they offer. All of these services can facilitate a more comfortable stay at treatment, improve mental health, and give you a more satisfying recovery. Here are some other services and the types of treatment centers that will offer them.
Holistic Recovery from Addiction
The holistic approach is becoming a popular model for addiction treatment and couples rehab. This model treats the addict as a whole, in mind, body and soul. There are various services that these drug rehab centers provide, but they often include: nutrition therapy, exercise, meditation, yoga, and acupuncture. All of these are geared toward healing your whole self, maintaining the balance between your mental, physical and spiritual recovery.
Spiritual/Religious Recovery and couples rehab from Addiction Some drug rehab centers approach recovery from a specific spiritual or religious tradition. Zen or Buddhist treatment centers utilize many holistic methods, such as meditation and yoga, and incorporate their particular mantras, poses, etc. There are also many Christian drug rehabs to choose from. At these rehabs, addicts may discover or rediscover their faith through mass, the sacraments, and Bible studies while they recover from their addiction.
Specialized Therapy Methods
About 1 in every 4 addicts and alcoholics suffer from a mental disorder that is distinct from their substance abuse. This is called dual diagnosis, and many drug rehab centers employ therapists and therapeutic methods that are specifically tailored to treat particular dual diagnosis disorders. There is dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), which is used to treat borderline personality disorder, codependency, and eating disorders. Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and trauma therapy are very effective for addicts who have suffered trauma and abuse. Finally, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is used for a multitude of disorders, such as depression, anger, anxiety, bipolar and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
As you can see, there is a large variety of services that extends far beyond those directly related to addiction and recovery. These services are not mutually exclusive, and they can in fact be complementary to one another. For instance, the same drug rehab centers that offer yoga and meditation might also offer trauma therapy. Each ancillary service can greatly benefit your recovery, contributing to your well-being in its own special way. If any of these services sounds appealing to you, let us know and we will find the right rehab that meets your criteria!
