Dating websites
These services are naturally the most popular for online dating and communication. Their peculiarity is that the profile is compiled according to a pre-designed convenient template (in special columns you place information about the purpose of the acquaintance, the characteristics of your character and hobbies, expectations from acquaintance, etc.). Among the advantages of portals: the ability to raise the profile to the top, a huge selection of options, a filter system, automatic selection of a partner based on a well-thought-out compatibility algorithm. But there are also disadvantages: the number of profiles is too large, a lot of spam and advertising accounts, registration on some dating sites is paid.

Social networks for dating
Another very popular type of online dating service. Here you can look for both friends for easy communication, and partners for romantic relationships. Some of these social networks have a certain "specialization": for example, they are intended for those who are not ready to go beyond flirting, or for single parents who dream of finding a soul mate. The pitfalls of such social networks are the same as those of dating sites - uncertainty in the interlocutor and the possibility of becoming a victim of scammers.

General social networks
These services do not have a specific thematic specialization. Through them, you can try to establish informal contact, "crossing" various social strata. On these services, people are more friendly than romantic, so it will not be easy to find a partner in this way. In addition, in recent years, fearing fraud and intrusive advertising, people are reluctant to add strangers as friends.

Messengers
Instant messaging and file exchange is a huge plus of instant messengers, as well as the fact that they usually cover a global audience, not limited to one country. But at the same time, you can only communicate within the framework of this service. Yes, and making acquaintances in the messenger is not easy. Another disadvantage of such services is that it is impossible to know in advance the interests and often even the age and gender of the interlocutor. In a word, everything depends on a “happy accident”, and this is not the most reliable option for finding a partner.

Chat Roulette
An interesting way to get acquainted: the program finds two random interlocutors with the "online" status and connects them. Communication takes place via video link. A feature and a certain advantage of the method (as well as a disadvantage) is the rule of the “great random”: it is not known who will become your interlocutor - the partner of your dreams or a dubious-looking individual with unusual hobbies, for example, an exhibitionist. And also, if you exit the chat roulette and do not ask for the contacts of a new acquaintance, it is unlikely that you will be able to find him again. In general, to start a serious relationship, the option is so-so ...
